Who runs this

Techno Optimists is operated by Techguyver Labs, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Contact: roy@techguyverlabs.org.

What the site is

A community built to connect people who want to understand real-world threads and help each other make things better. There is no business model in place; the focus is useful connections and collaboration. Reading needs no account. Posting a thread, adding progress or using a typed action needs you to sign in with your email address.

Open source and contributing

The site's code is open source under the MIT license. You are welcome to suggest improvements, report bugs and submit pull requests. See how to contribute for ways to help, with or without code.

The code license does not automatically apply to members' threads, comments or uploads. You keep ownership of your contributions. Agree directly with collaborators on permission to reuse their work and on any shared ownership, credit, costs or payment before starting work together.

Contributing code does not grant access to member accounts, private data or administration of this site. Maintainers review proposed changes before they become part of the site.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write and upload. By posting you give us permission to display it on the site and in links that point to it.

Everything you post to a thread is public from the moment you post it. Your handle is shown next to it. Do not post anything you are not free to share - someone else's private information, work you have no right to publish, or material that is illegal where you are.

If you describe someone else's problem rather than your own, say where the account came from. The site records a source alongside the thread for exactly this.

Working on someone's thread

Anyone signed in can add progress, ideas and comments to any thread. Moving a thread through its lifecycle stages is limited to the person who posted it, and to administrators. Editorial changes to thread titles, summaries and descriptions, and bulk imports, are limited to administrators.

Advice on this site comes from other members, not from us. Nothing here is professional engineering, medical, legal or safety advice. Work involving electricity, water supplies, structures, chemicals, vehicles or food carries real risk, and you are responsible for what you build and test.

What we can do

We can remove content or close an account that breaks these terms, without notice where the content is harmful. You can close your own account at any time from your account page.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, correct, or fit for a particular purpose, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it or from anything you build based on what you read here.

Changes

These terms will change as the site does. The date at the top is when this version was published.
